Thanksgiving All Levels Flow

Join us Thanksgiving morning for a virtual all-levels flow class focusing on gratitude. This slow vinyasa flow incorporates standing postures with upper back release, chest opening, and restorative inversion with supported deep relaxation. All levels are welcome. No equipment needed, but props are certainly helpful. If available gather blocks, a blanket, and a strap or belt. Join us as we celebrate all there is to be thankful for and kick off the holiday season.

Payment of $15 is required for entrance to class. Zelle (aliemcmanus@yahoo.com), Venmo (@Alie-McManus), or PayPal “send money to friends and family” ONLY (checking account must be linked).

The Zoom yoga room will open 10 minutes before class time. You will enter the waiting room until payment has been verified. You will only be admitted once payment has been verified.

There is a certain magic to Chicago on Saturday mornings in the summer: the sun rising magnificently over the lake, the city sleepy and still before the tourists begin to bustle around downtown. For the past few years, I’ve had the honor of teaching yoga in the heart of this world-class city, in the famous Millennium Park. This free event allows everyone to enjoy the immense benefits of yoga. There is a sacredness to this practice: Rising early. Rolling out your yoga mat in the green dewy grass. Taking in the fresh early morning air and feeling the crispness of the new day.  Sensing into the wide-open expanse of the park and the bright blue sky above.  Joining together with fellow Chicagoans in contemplative movement. Breathing together. Stretching, strengthening, discovering balance and even maybe a new friend.  Exhilaration and excitement give way to centered calm. I can feel it now!

Thanks to my parents’ encouragement I recently realized my dream of creating Freedom Yoga in Millennium Park as a DVD so all could enjoy this special practice year-round.  Three guided classes show real people doing yoga. Each person is so wonderfully unique and each yogi is free to experience and express the truth of who they are in that moment.

With a new summer upon us, join me in the park. Discover the beauty of yoga. Supported by the earth, armed with curiosity, guided by excellent and precise instruction, you will tune into the magic of your own body and leave more connected to who you truly are.

This class is specifically designed for those who wish to honor, open and strengthen the hips and shoulders and explore the chakra system. In this workshop, you will explore how to detect and release unconscious holding patterns throughout your shoulders, hips, and whole body. You will become attuned to the location of the chakras and the effects of opening and moving your energy within your body.

Balance, Inversions, & Spinal Twists (session 2)

enjoy the inner fluidity of your spine; discover the deep release that comes with spinal twists

Balance, Inversions and Spinal Twists- Enjoy the inner fluidity of your spine and discover the deep release that comes with spinal twists. In Alie’s class you will discover a balance between grounding and enlightening, doing and undoing, relaxing and energizing, and centering and expanding. Together we will explore balance in the standing postures, and then we will explore hand balancing and inversions. Invigorate your body and bring upside down joy to your practice!

Freedom Yoga in the New Year

Yoga for Increased Energy, Grounding and Meaningful Intention:  Explore Intelligent Backbending + Inversions + Modifications will be offered
