Finding Your Voice: Accessing Your Inner Guidance

  • yogaview 2211 N Elston Chicago, IL 60614 (map)

UPDATE TO EVENT: Online Only, 10am-12:30pm CDT

Did you know you can find your voice through the practice of accessing your own inner guidance? It’s true! Your inner guidance is your own personal navigation system. You have no doubt experienced a sense of inner guidance at various points in your life--you have an inner knowing or a gut feeling to do or not do something. But the trick is--did you listen, trust, and act from this information?

In these classes we will practice and learn ways to engage and strengthen our own personal and unique inner guidance using meditation, asana (postures), and pranayama (breathing exercises) to increase clarity, quiet our minds, and connect our bodies with our inner knowing. How can you tell the difference between trusting what you think and trusting your inner guidance? We will practice fun ways to explore being guided from within and figuring out what to do with the “thinking mind.” Being guided from within, to me, is the main practice of yoga.

Your Inner Fluidity and Backbending

Discover the inner fluidity of your spine with backbending. You will learn how to prepare for backbends with intelligent sequencing and essential alignment details so that you feel good doing them. The benefits of backbending include increased energy, comfort, and a sense of buoyancy or positive outlook on life. Alie will guide you into postures in stages, which will enable you to sense where your edge is in a safe, non-competitive, respectful way. Modifications and variations will be offered. There will be gentle counter-poses to soothe the mind and body. This will be a balanced class designed to ground, energize, and calm the mind, body, and spirit.

Coming Home to You with Gentle and Restorative Yoga

This gentle and restorative yoga practice will be designed to guide you into a place of comfort and ease within yourself. When we experience peace and calm, we can then feel at home within ourselves. From this place of being grounded, present, and centered within yourself, you may more easily connect with your deepest desires. We will practice pranayama (breathing exercises) to ground our mind and body to gain access to our deepest knowing. You will learn passive and active mediation practices to access, develop, and strengthen your experience of being guided from within.
