The Nadis & The Chakras: An Experiential Exploration

  • Inner Sense Healing Arts Collective (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

In the yogic tradition, nadis are known as currents of energy and the chakras are wheel-like energy centers. This workshop is designed to guide the participant towards an awareness of these energy centers and streams. When attention is drawn to the interior landscape within oneself, an opportunity arises to enlighten and become sensitive to these natural pranic streams and energy centers.

This workshop will begin with a short presentation introducing you to the systems of the nadis and the chakras. From there, we will use visualization, breathwork, innovative pose variations, meditation, and curiosity to come to an embodied understanding of these systems. Witness your clarity and energy increase as you release holding patterns and develop skills that create greater energetic freedom and ease in your postures and your life.

This workshop is suitable for yoga practitioners of all levels. Anyone who is interested in exploring the chakras and nadis and incorporating these systems into their yoga practice or yoga teaching practice will benefit from using these systems and visualizations to harness their power on and off the mat.

Cancellation Policy: Requests for cancellation received 48 hours in advance of the event’s beginning will be given the option of an account credit in full or a refund minus a 15% administration fee. Cancellation requests received after 48 hours prior to the start of the event will be given an account credit in full.

Please Note! Any tickets bought within 48 hours of the event will be offered at the supportive rate only.

Teaching Yoga to Beginners: A Teacher Training Weekend

This teacher training weekend is appropriate no matter if you’re a teacher or teacher in training, or if you’re simply a student that desires a deeper connection to your own practice and experience of yoga. Whatever your motivation, you will learn the art and science of teaching yoga to beginners.

Every session will begin as if you are a student in a beginners’ class being introduced to the basic foundations of yoga. You will then step off the mat, and together we will break down the essential details of teaching yoga to new yogis and yoginis.

From sequencing, breathing exercises, and appropriate postures, modifications, and adjustments to witnessing the mind, decreasing stress and anxiety, and coming home to your Self. You will learn multiple ways to empower your students through detailed discussions, lectures, and of course practice. We will explore how to approach the needs of students who are dealing with various conditions, injuries, and structural limitations, and the art of observation will be practiced with other participants in the class.

You will also be encouraged to practice on your own in order to harness the skills necessary to demonstrate self-trust both on and off the mat. The discoveries you make here will be inspiring! It is Alie’s intention for you to have fun learning the necessary skills to teach beginners safely and with intelligence.

Integrity and authenticity come from the heart. So let’s embrace teaching from your own experience of yoga and sharing what you love together during this powerful, deeply effective weekend. Rediscover your love of yoga with Alie and then share it with the world.

Space is limited. Upon registration, a required course reading and viewing list will be provided.

Cost:
$325 early bird through February 1
$395 after February 1

The Joy of Yoga & The Art of Living (Midwest)

Do What You Love

Celebrate your love of Yoga and life! The major benefit of Yoga is the deepening awareness of one’s self. Become your best friend through exercising loving-kindness and curiosity, patience and gentle persistence. Yoga can inspire our life, and life can inspire our Yoga. You will learn to experience greater freedom in your body in the postures, while emphasizing the power of your breath, the strength of your grounded body, and a wonderful increase in energy. Harness the skills necessary to discover freedom in your Yoga and life! Feel revitalized, spacious and expansive. It is Alie’s intent for you to experience your natural state of peace. Come and enjoy yourself and your Yoga!

Morning class:

Discover Comfort and Ease in Your Daily Life

Rediscover balance in your body. Assess postural habits and learn how to come back to your center. Experience balance by grounding and enlightening, doing and undoing, relaxing and energizing, and centering and expanding. This special class is specifically designed for those who wish to honor and open and strengthen the hips and shoulders, and experience being centered. You will explore how to detect and release unconscious holding patterns throughout your shoulders and hips. Together we will bring awareness, tenderness, and an active curiosity to the hips and shoulders, and the whole body, revealing a sense of spaciousness that is truly enlightening! Be ready for innovative pose variations, the experience of spontaneous joy, and increased luminosity.

Afternoon class:

Coming Home to You

Unwind from the rigors of daily life with restorative and gentle Yoga, breath work, and meditation. In this class you will explore the chakras, nadis, and visualization. The meaning of the word chakra comes from the Sanskrit word “wheel”, and may be experienced as an energy center in the body. You will become attuned to the location of the chakras and the effects of opening and moving your energy within your body. In the Yogic tradition, nadis are known as currents of energy. As you immerse in the physical postures and release stress and tensions, you will sense an inner fluidity within your body. Nadis can be experienced as streams of energy. When you draw your attention to the interior landscape of you, there is an opportunity to enlighten and be sensitive to these natural pranic streams. This Yoga practice is designed to draw you into a deep relaxation – effortlessly – while offering you an opportunity to experience your natural state of peace.

Cost: $75 for non-members of Michigan Yoga Association

Membership fees: $30 individual, $25 student or senior, $45 family.

Registration will be available on the Michigan Yoga Association’s website starting January 1, 2019. If you have any questions or problems registering, please email Cathy at csdtucci@comcast.net.

Feel the Gratitude: energize & restore

Throughout your yoga practice, you’ve most likely heard your teacher explain the importance (and benefits) of cultivating gratitude. Being grateful can help you open the door to more relationships, increase your energy, sleep better, improve self-esteem and boost your mental strength. Gratefulness doesn’t come naturally to everyone. So how can you become more grateful? By choosing to be, and consciously practicing it.

Gratefulness can be cultivated by appreciating the good of any situation. Join me for a special workshop designed to help you count your blessings, savor the good in your life and truly feel grateful for the people and the community that surround you - that is TanaYoga Studio.

Discover freedom and balance in your body and in your life. In this class you will find empowerment by consciously connecting to the ground and through opening your hips, pelvis, shoulders and spine to relieve the tension that our body accumulates and can hold on to. Learn how to orient from awareness and experience loving kindness toward yourself and others. Through the exploration of twisting, you will enjoy the inner fluidity of your spine and discover deep release that comes with spinal twists. Together we will explore innovative pose variations, essential alignment details, breathing techniques, and you may experience spontaneous joy and increased luminosity.

      Freedom Yoga in Millennium Park

There is a certain magic to Chicago on Saturday mornings in the summer: the sun rising magnificently over the lake, the city sleepy and still before the tourists begin to bustle around downtown. For the past few years, I’ve had the honor of teaching yoga in the heart of this world-class city, in the famous Millennium Park. This free event allows everyone to enjoy the immense benefits of yoga. There is a sacredness to this practice: Rising early. Rolling out your yoga mat in the green dewy grass. Taking in the fresh early morning air and feeling the crispness of the new day. Sensing into the wide-open expanse of the park and the bright blue sky above. Joining together with fellow Chicagoans in contemplative movement. Breathing together. Stretching, strengthening, discovering balance and even maybe a new friend. Exhilaration and excitement give way to centered calm. I can feel it now! Please join me!
